Our Art Club students made a splash in October when they designed a Rugby World Cup welcome sign for the Welsh rugby team. And not any old welcome sign. The letters were eight metres high and spelled out the word “Croeso”, welcome in Welsh. It was part of a Manukau Beautification Trust project to place welcome signs under the flight paths of planes landing at Auckland International Airport. The students did a Photoshop image of their idea and then up-scaled it. As a result we gained a Highly Commended award from the Auckland Council along with a larger than life model of a colourful yellow sheep, which currently holds pride of place in our library.
