Starring alongside one of your students on stage in a professional musical isn't every teacher's idea of a good time. However Jane Horder, ACG Senior College drama and singing teacher, couldn't be more delighted that both she and student Jason Yang are starring in The Ziera Shoes season of Miss Saigon, presented by the North Shore Music Theatre at The Civic, The Edge.

"It's fantastic being in the show with Jason. It's a great thrill for me to work alongside one of my students who is so talented." says Jane, who is playing the part of Ellen.

The show opened Friday 20 May and is running until 11 June. "The opening night was amazing and everyone was buzzing. The audience loved it. It's a massive production and I think Auckland is going to really enjoy it. It's such a great cast."

With 57 in the cast, it is the largest cast ever assembled for a musical in New Zealand and includes big names such as Tina Cross who plays Gigi, the hardened stripper and TV personality Russell Dixon.

After the 2010 hit "Imagine" performed at the Sky City Theatre, ACG's New Zealand Schools will again come together for an evening of top entertainment. Students from ACG Parnell College, ACG Senior College, ACG Strathallan, ACG Sunderland and ACG New Zealand International College will perform classic hits from the 60's to the 90's.

The LTM Star Awards are voted by peers from the education industry and ACG has been nominated for two prestigious awards in the following categories;

• Best English Language School – Southern Hemisphere
• Best High School - Southern Hemisphere

The winners will be announced on 3rd September in London at a gala dinner attended by 700 industry peers.

During her visit to Jakarta, Hon. Mrs Anne Tolley, New Zealand Minister for Education, met with the Principal and Director of ACG International School Jakarta.

ACG Sunderland will have a purpose built gymnasium completed by the end of 2011.

The gymnasium will be a multi-purpose structure allowing for all Physical Education and training requirements plus with the option to have full school assemblies and productions onsite. The facility will also include:

• Changing Rooms
• Foyer area
• Staff work area
• Physical Education and Sport equipment storage

There is also the option to have a classroom or weight training facility added in the future.The complex will be a welcome addition to the facilities already on-site at ACG Sunderland.
