John Burns

Head of School & Head of Primary, ACG International School Vietnam 

Background

John Burns is originally from Adelaide, South Australia where he graduated from the University of Adelaide (Underdale) with a Physical Education and Sports Science degree. His first years of teaching were as a Physical Education specialist and an upper Primary classroom teacher.

John has had 17 years experience as a School Principal including eight years in Australia and nine in International Schools. Prior to working overseas he was the Principal at two country locations in South Australia where he gained an understanding about School leadership and the education system.

John was the Co-Head of School at the MEF International School, Istanbul, Turkey and also the Head of School at the Medan International School, Indonesia. In the past nine years overseas he has worked with the International Baccalaureate Curriculum and used Information Communication Technology.

ACG Career

Arriving to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2007 to begin work with ACG, John was the foundation Head of the Primary School and then became the Head of School when the Secondary School was added in 2008.

During this time the School has grown from a single building and 16 students to the full size campus and over 500 students. John resides in Vietnam with his wife Irene and two children Indira and Isha who both attend ACG Vietnam.
