Background

Shawn Hutchinson studied English Literature and Theatre Studies at the University of Adelaide before completing a post graduate diploma in Secondary Education.

Shawn has worked in government, independent and international school sectors as a secondary school English, Theatre Arts, and Special Education teacher. Shawn has been a secondary school principal for seven years and has also held Head of Department positions in a number of schools.

In the mid 1990's, Shawn worked in Singapore for an Arts organisation developing Arts Programmes for Singaporean private and government schools as well as running teacher training workshops for arts teachers. In the late 1990's, Shawn developed online Arts Projects for the South Australian Department of Education, Training and Employment. He also held board membership on key youth arts organisations in South Australia including Arts SA, South Australian Association for Drama in Education, Port Youth Theatre Ensemble, and Mainstreet Theatre.

In 2002, Shawn moved to Tokyo, Japan to take up a principal's position at International Secondary School (Tokyo International School) and remained in that position until June 2008. Shawn was a member of the Japan Council of International Schools.

Shawn lives in Ho Chi Minh City with his wife Mayumi and two girls, Lina and Mei.

 

ACG Career

Shawn joined ACG in August 2008 as the Head of Middle School at ACG International School Vietnam. The Middle School has made steady progress since August 2008 and in August 2010, the first group of Senior School students commenced the University of Cambridge AS Levels.
