china frame Internationalism April 2017

At ACG School Jakarta we have continued celebrating our internationalism by displaying information on a noticeboard in the Canteen. Each week a team of volunteer Year 9 students create a display on a different country, this focus is usually because of a special day or event. For April it was China – Ching Ming Festival, India - for no real reason at this time of the year, other than the fact we love our Indian students! (next year this will coincide with Diwali), England – St. George’s Day and The Netherlands – King’s Birthday.

Year 4 Camp Taman Safari Jakarta 2017

From April 5th to 7th Year 4 students and staff travelled to Taman Safari in Bogor for their first ever school camp! The children enjoyed an array of exciting and challenging experiences, such as a behind the scenes tour of the Safari park, flying and climbing through the trees on high ropes and the flying fox, and performing in their very own camp concert.  The camp provided opportunities for students to be independent, to work with others they might not normally work with and to take calculated risks. We all can’t wait to get back again next year!

Over 2 days the Year 6 students and Secondary students not on camp undertook a visit to Portibi Farm (Lodges Ekologica) near Bogor. The experience was a very educationally enlightening one for me -not only were we informed about the importance of recycling and maintaining the environment in general, we also gained first-hand knowledge of how simple and effortless reforestation efforts could be.
