International Arts Evening

Friday, 08 March 2013 08:27

International Arts Evening 2On Friday 1 March, ACG held their annual Arts Evening. This year it was particularly special since we were able to host the event on site in our new multi-purpose gymnasium. The stage looked resplendent with blue and white balloons and a backdrop of Jakarta thanks to a couple of our hard working PSG Mums, especially Ibu Regina. It was rewarding to see almost every family attend, and we even welcomed four new families whose children had not yet commenced classes. The atmosphere was electric with excitement. Our PSG were there with warm smiles to welcome everyone with delicious treats to set the scene for an excellent night ahead.

On Wednesday 14 December, ACG Jakarta hosted it's second International Arts Evening for the first time on its' very own campus near the new Primary Classrooms. The area was splendidly decorated for the festive holiday season and the Parent Support Group made refreshments available to suit the occasion.

The Arts Evening is a showcase of learning experiences and talent of ACG Jakarta, and families even enjoyed viewing the numerous entries for the Jati Arts Exhibition which were on display around the performing area.

The students presented an array of international performances which included a variety of dance, song, poetry and instrumental routines. The highlight of the evening was the whole school coming together to sing 'Can You Feel It' which received a rousing ovation from the audience.

During the International Arts Evening a great highlight was the traditional Indonesian Saman Dance from the Aceh district performed by our very own Indonesian Staff members. We felt very proud of their cultural heritage on display. The Year 1 and 2 students melted our hearts with their dramatisation of ‘The Little Fir Tree’ which created a warm Christmas spirit. Secondary students were also featured throughout the evening and impressed everyone with their Blue Screen Video project and the finale rendition with the Secondary Band of “I’m Yours” sung by our very own Ms Carla and Mr Oscar.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and were amazed at the depth of talent we have in such a small school. Will the International Arts Evening now become an annual event?
