ACG Jakarta hosted the annual JASIS Swimming Competition

Thursday, 24 May 2012 14:49

Swimming_Carnival_2012_042ACG Jakarta hosted the annual JASIS (Java Association of Small International Schools) Swimming Competition on Saturday 12 May. This was a major event to sponsor which involved coordinating seven of the JASIS schools participating. Students were organized into age level groups which rotated around a variety of entertaining water based activities to cope with the large number of students and their families. It was an excellent opportunity to showcase our new front Administration and Secondary building recently opened as well as launch our new ACG swimming costumes.

The Swimming Pool and lower Primary areas were transformed with covered marques and Regina's Balloon Team in action! Our dynamic PSG (Parent Support Group) acted as Hosts for visiting families and prepared healthy fruit kebabs to keep the swimmers energy levels satisfied and the Starbucks Coffee van met the adult's needs. We were grateful for the professional announcing services of one of our parents Mr Dino to keep the swimming events moving quickly and smoothly.

Year One PYP Assembly

Wednesday, 23 May 2012 14:44

The students of Year One inquired into the PYP Attitude of EMPATHY. They had to imagine how other people could be feeling or thinking, which is quite a challenge for five and six year olds! They started off by remembering when they themselves felt sad, lonely or worried and then came up with their own ideas of what they could do to help.

Year 6 Exhibition – Monday/Tuesday 14-15 May

IMG_3570This year, the Year 6 students performed their PYP Exhibition with the Theme of 'Sharing the Planet'. They were exploring the 'Risks, Challenges and Opportunities' that people experience throughout the world. For the past six weeks, students have been researching and presenting their findings about racism, disabilities, religions and many other topics. The Year 6 students began their Presentation in our new Arts Room and commenced the Exhibition with a short play they'd written focusing on poverty, and a role play of the true story titled 'Running Shoes'. The students then did an excellent statistical overview of their class called 'If our Class was the World' which amazed the audience. The Introduction finished with a rousing performance by the students of 'We are the World' the famous Michael Jackson song.

Conclusion of Soccer Season with the JSFA Competition

Thursday, 17 May 2012 09:18

The month of May heralded the end of the JSFA soccer Season or the Coca Cola League Competition as it's often referred to. This year ACG hosted 4 Teams with U8C, U8D, U10C and U12C and we were particularly proud to have several of our girls playing. We wish to congratulate all of our Soccer Players who demonstrated such dedication and commitment to the Practice Schedule, and Saturday games including some Sunday matches as well. During the May Friday Assembly each player was presented with a special commemorative cup contributed by the parents that made the students feel very special. It was a great season and we were very proud of the success of our teams. Special thanks to our Coaches – Mr Dhani, Mr Jaka, Mr Thomas, Mr Bill and Mrs Clare with Ms Julia also assisting the teams. This was a 10 week competition and is the biggest sporting event in Jakarta so thank you to the parents for their support every Saturday ensuring students were at the games on time and with the correct playing equipment. Well done Everyone for a great Soccer Season!
