On Monday 16 April, a gala dinner was held in honour of the visit to Indonesia by The Rt. Hon John Key - Prime Minister of NZ. Mr Key and the Trade Minister Mr Tim Groser lead a 26 member business delegation to Jakarta.

ACG was well represented in this delegation by Mr Danny Chan, Deputy Chairman. A key focus for the visit was education and expanding the number of Indonesians studying in NZ from the present 600. Since there are over 70,000 Indonesians studying abroad, the new Free Trade Agreement between New Zealand and Indonesia presents opportunities for New Zealand.

The Principal of ACG International School Jakarta, Mrs Chris Rawlins, met briefly with Mr Key and discussed the growth and expansion of the ACG Jakarta campus. Mr Key was interested as he had visited the ACG Vietnam campus, and was familiar with the ACG Schools in New Zealand. We are hoping to significantly increase the number of ACG Jakarta students venturing to New Zealand to complete their Senior Secondary education and tertiary studies.

The following Tuesday afternoon, ACG hosted Mr Danny Chan, Mr Charles Finny (Education NZ), and Mr Izaac Human (NZ High Commission - Education SE Asia) to the ACG campus. This was a significant event for ACG and a good opportunity to show off the new buildings. The visitors enjoyed their tour of the classrooms and were impressed by the students being so actively engaged in learning. Mr Charles Finny commended the teaching staff on the quality of learning.
