Year One PYP Assembly

The students of Year One inquired into the PYP Attitude of EMPATHY. They had to imagine how other people could be feeling or thinking, which is quite a challenge for five and six year olds! They started off by remembering when they themselves felt sad, lonely or worried and then came up with their own ideas of what they could do to help.

Here are some of Year One's suggestions:

"If someone is feeling lonely I could be their friend." said Neena
"If someone does not know how to read I can help them with the hard words." said Riccardo
"If someone is being bullied I can take them to a safe place." said Ariel
"If someone is poor I can give them some of my things." said Valerie

We presented a play to the rest of the school based on the story "Happy Birthday Moon" by Frank Asch. We had lots of fun performing our play in costumes showing the forest and creatures and we created actions to match the story in which a kind bear wants the moon to have a birthday present too!
