ACG School Jakarta activities
In recent years school curriculums have expanded to meet the needs of children preparing for a challenging new world and developing them as global citizens. ACG School Jakarta practices this ideology through the Primary Years Programme, which is part of the International Baccalaureate Organization and the Cambridge International Examinations. The School was authorized in May, 2010. At ACG School Jakarta we have strong focus on activities outside of the classroom that contribute to the intellectual, emotional, cultural, physical and social development of our children and provide balance in their daily lives.
ACG School Jakarta has an extensive range of activities including swimming, daily fitness, house competition and compilation of the annual Year Book. The School also has a strong afterschool programme to encourage further development in all students.
With many families in Jakarta living in residences that have swimming pools, the School realizes the importance of children not just developing stroke techniques, but also their ability to save themselves should an emergency situation arise. Therefore, as part of the School's Physical Education programme, swimming has a year round focus for all children. Classes are provided for the non-confident child who has never been in an aquatic environment to the competitive swimmer. All weekly lessons are presented in a fun and positive manner with experienced PE teachers. Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace within their level of comfort.
The ACG School Jakarta school swimming programme also encompasses water safety skills, with resuscitation and rescue techniques taught as part of the curriculum. The game of water polo allows children to develop essential team strategy and co-operation skills, whilst water aerobics develops coordination and fitness.
The students at ACG School Jakarta and the public have the opportunity to extend swimming and water safety skills outside of school hours. A comprehensive programme is offered that involves toddlers, children, teenagers and adults through to the wider school community. Please contact the office for further information.
Maintaining a regular exercise programme is essential for health and well being. Modern technology is often a major obstacle to this for many children. At ACG School Jakarta we make the health and wellbeing of our children a priority and value sporting and fitness activities. The childhood years are an imperative for developing key physical skills like coordination and good habits when it comes to exercise.
