Homestay Accommodation
To get the most out of experiencing New Zealand life, we recommend homestay accommodation.
ACG students under the age of 18 are required to either stay with a homestay family or in an ACG-approved independent student accommodation. Homestay arrangements are organized and monitored directly by ACG. All payments are made directly to the homestay provider from the Charitable Trust.
Homestay families are carefully selected and are required to sign a contract that details specific rules and standards. In addition, all ACG homestay providers must undergo a vetting procedure by the New Zealand Police. ACG provides training and ongoing support to its approved homestay families.
Students under the age of 18 are visited in their homestay accommodation a minimum of three times per year to provide extra support and supervision.
The benefits of homestay are:
- A homestay offers a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students to come home to each day.
- A homestay provides guidance and support to students outside of school time.
- A homestay provides opportunity for English practice. This is an excellent way to increase speaking and listening skills.
- A homestay includes most meals. Students don't need to spend time shopping and cooking.
- A homestay includes laundry, electricity, heating, water and local phone calls.
ACG Homestay Accommodation
ACG students can choose to stay at ACG's selected homestay accommodation:
- ACG Homestay includes a single room with a bed, desk, lighting and adequate heating. Meals include breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday, and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
- The travel time between ACG Homestay and school is approximately 15 to 45 minutes each way by public bus or train.
