Intensive Academic English*
If you are looking for IELTS Auckland or IELTS NZ preparation, then ACG has an intensive Academic English course for you.
Three modules are included in the course: The Core Curriculum Module, which consists of skills development, the Preparation for IELTS Module which focuses on examination skills and the Elective Modules to develop English within a variety of contexts.
The Core Curriculum Module includes:
- Receptive Skills: Listening and Reading
- Productive Skills: Writing and Speaking
- Core Language Skills: Vocabulary, Grammar and Pronunciation
The core module consists of 10 lessons per week and is designed to develop English language usage, language structure, vocabulary, reading, listening and writing.
ACG English School provides specialised support in developing writing skills which is essential for success at tertiary level.
The Preparation for IELTS Module consists of 7 lessons per week with specific development of the skills related to the examination.
The module includes:
- Listening Skills n Writing Skills
- Reading Skills n Speaking Skills
The Elective Modules:
2 lessons per week. The purpose of the modules is to develop English within a different context to the standard classroom.

- Academic Level 1 (Elementary)
- Academic Level 2 (Advanced Elementary)
- Academic Level 3 (Pre-Intermediate)
- Academic Level 4 (Intermediate)
- Academic Level 5 (Upper-Intermediate)
- Academic Level 6 (Advanced)
* Registered as Intensive General English with NZQA.

Intensive IELTS Preparation*
The course has been developed for students who have successfully completed ACG English School's Academic Level 3 or have an IELTS 5.0 or equivalent and who meet the academic entry requirements for tertiary study. The course duration is 12 weeks and there are four starting dates per year.
Starting dates:
2013: 7 January, 3 April, 25 June and 17 September
2014: 6 January, 1 April, 24 June and 16 September
2015: 5 January, 24 March, 16 June, 8 September
Course length: 12 weeks (one cycle)
Hours of tuition: 24 hours per week
Entry Requirements: Successful completion of ACG English School's Academic Level 3, IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
