Playing Baseball for New Zealand
Congratulations to Mak Rolfe (Year 11) for selection in the NZ Under 16 Baseball Team. He played in a tournament against Australia and Guam at the start of Term One.
New Zealand Skiing Representative
Faolan Gavignan (Year 9) is representing his age group in an international event in Andorra, Spain.
AFS Exchange to Costa Rica
Jamie Webb-Speight (Year 12) spent the summer on an AFS exchange to Costa Rica. She lived in a small town outside San José and she loved every moment. She made the most of the experience and has returned to New Zealand fluent in Spanish. AFS provided an intensive language course for three weeks when she first arrived. She spent the rest of the time with her hosts who hardly spoke any English, nor did the local people. Having learned Spanish at ACG Parnell College since Year 7, Jamie said that everything fell into place when she was amongst native speakers and made communication all the easier.
