When to Apply

Most applications are considered in the year prior to entry, in the order they are received, while Year 7 students may be interviewed up to 18 months prior to entry.

Applicants will normally be interviewed before a place is offered although this requirement may be waived at the discretion of the College. Interviews for the following year will usually commence in March, while applications for the current year will be considered if places are available. We spend considerable time making every effort to assess every application fairly and in detail.

Interviews

An interview provides an opportunity to learn more about each student and to assess his / her attitude, sense of personal responsibility and motivation. It is also an opportunity to find out more about the College. The interview will last about thirty minutes and will be with the Principal or Deputy Principal. Before an interview takes place, it would be helpful to have a copy of the following documents:

  • A current school report
  • Results of any external examinations and qualifications gained, where applicable

We welcome the opportunity to view any work produced as part of previous study. A statement of what the student wants to achieve at the College may also be requested.

Entry Criteria

Before applications are approved, students will be assessed for the following qualities:

  • A willingness to extend themselves
  • Openness to new ideas
  • Ability to cope with the course of study proposed

The student's academic record should show an ability to sustain a course of study at his / her chosen level.

At Years 7 to 10 students follow a core curriculum, while a wide choice of subjects is offered in the Senior School.

Students in Years 11 to 13 may select a course from CIE subjects at different levels; provided these are suited to their abilities and they meet any pre-requisites for study. In addition, students will require a level of fluency and competency in English that allows them to understand classroom instruction easily and to express themselves confidently in both oral and written situations. If a student's first language is not English, they will be required to sit an English language test prior to acceptance. English language teaching and support is available.

Notification

Students will usually be advised of the result of their application within seven days of any interview. If a place is offered, acceptance must be confirmed in writing and the enrolment fee paid by the date specified.
