Student Support

ACG Parnell provides a high level of support for all students

Achievement Conference Days

Achievement Conference Days are held twice each year, at the beginning of each semester. Students and parents meet with their tutor for a 15 minute appointment. The aim of the meeting is to allow a set of goals to be formulated for each student. Preparation for Achievement Conferences and time for reflection of progress regarding goals are integrated within the tutor system.

Tutor System

Students at each level are allocated a tutor at the start of the year. Tutors usually teach the student and they also provide a mentoring role to support students in their studies.

Deans

The Deans system supports the role of tutors and provides additional assistance for parents and students. Each Dean focuses on a year level and they can provide support whenever it is required. A special Deans' Assembly is also held once a term and this provides an opportunity for Deans to speak to each year level, and to recognise students who are working well in classes.

Careers Advisor

The school nurse, Mrs Christine Biggs, is also the ACG Parnell College Careers Advisor. She works with Deputy Principal, Mrs Chris van der Loos, and Deans to provide advice for students about career pathways.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

Courses of study are available for students with Elementary and Intermediate skills with the English language. These classes are taught by specialist English-language teachers and regular assessments are used to track student progress.
