ACG Parnell College - Middle School

 

Students in Years 7 to 10 follow a prescribed course of study. Subjects studied by all students in the Middle School are:

 

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Art
  • Physical Education & Health
  • Spanish or Chinese
  • ICT
  • Thinking Skills

 

Students are taught by specialist teachers and classes make use of specialist teaching areas when required. Homework is set on a regular basis and common assessments are conducted in each subject. In addition, students in Years 7 to 10 sit school examinations in Terms Two and Four. Comprehensive reports are published twice a year and there are opportunities for students and parents to discuss academic progress, including:

  • Tutorials
  • Phone calls home
  • Email
  • Parent-Teacher interviews

 

Students in Year 7 study one semester of Spanish and one semester of Chinese. They then choose which language they would like to pursue from Year 8. Some students in Year 10 are also given the opportunity to sit Cambridge International Examinations in Science and Mathematics.
