"Our daughter chose Senior College looking for difference and depth. She found inspiring teachers, and fell in love with learning which will be life-long. It is quite possible the friendships she has made will be too.” - Susan

“I think it would be true to say that we were reluctant to send our son to Senior College and we certainly needed to be convinced.  We were filled with many preconceptions about the school, we had 'heard' that the students had too much freedom, they roamed the City, it was only for academically able students etc etc. I can honestly say that we were probably confusing the many AUT students who are in the building opposite with those of the much smaller Senior College. Judging by the Year Book, any free time our son had during his time at Senior was suitably used by him to debate, act, sing, and be involved in everything from Amnesty International to mini United Nations. He was lucky enough to be selected by the school to be on the Auckland City Youth Council that was a great introduction to local politics. Someone recently asked us what the point of difference was between Senior College and similar schools. I think it really comes down to the student body, empowered by the staff. They direct themselves, they are independent, they don't rely on teachers to spoon feed them information. They challenge their teachers to teach them as equals and there is mutual respect for students and staff alike who go the extra mile. This was my son’s sort of school, they were his sort of people, he had waited 12 years before he found a school where he could breathe and belong to. He visibly relaxed when he started at Senior, he found his academic equals, he was accepted for who he was, he was challenged by both staff and students, and he was truly sad to leave.  This is a school for students not parents. We have since sent our daughter to Senior College, she is so totally different in personality to her brother and yet has seamlessly slipped into the life of Senior College, so this is absolutely not a school where one size fits all! “ Sam

“Sending Jake to Senior College was a great decision that I have never
regretted for a moment.  Its mature and accepting environment embodies
respect for individuality and diversity, and nurtures that passion for
learning and achievement  which most children seem to be born with,
but which unfortunately often fizzles out in other environments.  For
me the best recommendation for Senior College was that Jake loved it: he found
it fun, challenging and supportive.  Senior College was certainly the right
choice for us.” Penelope

"We respect the principles upon which the school is founded and recognise that those principles served H very positively and have contributed substantially in preparing her for the university life that is to follow. "The teaching she received whilst at Senior College was of the highest possible calibre and we are confident that she gained much, not just academically, but on a life-skills level also. At all times she was treated with respect and courtesy by both staff and students, and we thank you for a very positive secondary schooling experience." - Parent

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this life-changing experience. He leaves Senior College enriched in heart and in intellect. Our deepest thanks to you for your personal encouragement, keeping an eye out for him, and for your open and vocal support for him and all those students who "go the extra mile". You look upon your students and their achievements with great pride and adoration and they know it and feel it. What a wonderful gift you have and impart. Although J was the student, we too have been enriched by the past two years vicariously learning so much, but above all, enjoying the tapestry of human kindness, caring and generosity that we have been so fortunate to experience from you all. Our heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes to you all." - Mr and Mrs B

"I would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation of all that Senior College has offered H in the last two years." - Mr and Mrs F
