Inspiration is our Defining Purpose
“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” Plutarch.
If students are to be challenged to meet higher standards and apply what they have learned to their lives, then schools have a responsibility to engage students and beyond that, we must inspire.
The goal of our teachers is to bring about meaningful learning.
Inspirational teachers challenge students to question. Like the ripples on a pond when you throw a stone, learning is constantly expanding. ACG Strathallan teacher encourage each student to explore the edges of the outermost circle through their natural sense of curiosity.
Students need to take control of their lives as they mature and so teachers at different stages have different skills and take a different stance. At ACG Strathallan we start with the very young who cannot be expected to take responsibility for themselves and move through a “training wheel period” to autonomy in the senior college years.
When Sir John Graham and Dawn Jones founded ACG in 1995 they said:
“Schools should have a sense of purposeful industry along with the excitement that emanates from new experiences. They should be places where individuals feel valued and welcomed, and where each student feels appreciated and accepted”.
In this stunning, inspirational setting, we create positive environments. Ones that steer young people along a purposeful pathway of fulfilment and success.
At ACG Strathallan learning is central to everyone. Our curriculum inspires and nurtures creativity. We encourage each student to explore novelty and excitement through supportive social networks and innovations.
At ACG Strathallan we cherish the relationships between teachers and learners. We offer our people the discretion to be creative and to innovate in what they do. We aim to provide an environment and a school culture where students engage wholeheartedly in learning. To this end, inspiration is our defining purpose.
