ACG Strathallan student top in Oceania

ACG student Caitlin Benzie, aged 16, turned heads at the Horse of the Year competition held in Hastings last week by scooping up several coveted placings.

The ACG Strathallan student was awarded the following for Dressage:

• Best 12-15 year old in New Zealand and in Oceania
• Best Under 16 year old in New Zealand
• 3rd best Under 21 year old in New Zealand

Brad O'Callaghan, Captain of the ACG Strathallan First XV Hockey team, recounts the team's recent tour in Australia.

So, this past holidays the 1st XI boys hockey squad travelled to Victoria in Australia. You can imagine our excitement as we met in the canteen the day before we left for some last minute preparation. A sleepless night was ahead for the boys and their mothers as their bags were packed. The next morning we arrived at Auckland Airport at 5 o'clock. It was Maccas for breakfast and a coffee for Mr Fourie to get him ready for a trip with 16 highly energetic boys!
                     
After a four hour plane ride (and many episodes of Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory, and the odd movie) we arrived in Melbourne at 11am Aussie time. Leaving the airport in the team bus (one in which many a memory was made!), we realised it was that time again so took a quick detour for some more Maccas. (New Zealand Macdonalds is so much better).
