15th February 2017, what a day to remember! Four houses stepped up to the challenge of facing one another for the ultimate prize ever- bragging rights and of course winning the much-needed house points! Who was to win? McLaren? Angus? Wilkins? Or was it to be three years in a row for Batten?
Our college swimming sports took place last week with some very close competition. It was great to see all of the keen junior students partaking and the senior students having a laugh arriving with all their pool toys which were clearly needed for some of the races.
With a week of ups and downs it certainly ended on a high note for ACG Strathallan Year 10 student, Erin O’Mara, at the Division II New Zealand Swimming Competition at Splash Palace in Invercargill. Winning her first national medals, Erin won gold in the 200m breaststroke and followed up with a bronze in the 400m individual medley.
Samantha Wallace, Scarlet Boxall-Hunt, Lochlan Spence, Levi Matches won the Year Six Freestyle Relay event and were presented with the George Keown Trophy.
A group of twenty-one swimmers represented Strathallan at the Inter School Swimming competition on Wednesday 23rd March at Massey Park Pools. It was a cold and wet day but this did not stop our swimmers from taking to the water and swimming their best.
Besides encouraging students with the academic challenges of school, Strathallan students are always encouraged to pursue their love for sport and many find great enjoyment and success in this area. In recent years, to support this pursuit further, students have been able to participate in inter-school tournament events held in various towns and cities across the country.
