So when the lighting has been turned off, the final round of applause has faded, the sets have been taken down and the actors have gone home what becomes of the driving force behind this year's production?

Year 6 Camp Term 1 2013

Tuesday, 14 May 2013 13:22

Camp 1On the first day of camp we climbed up Mt. Maunganui, and had lunch on the beach  and then walked to the summit, with beautiful views surrounding us on all sides. For afternoon tea we had mainly chocolate-chip cookies and brownies, and one lucky group got cupcakes. Once we arrived at the camp we set up our rooms and sorted our things. Later, after a glorious dinner of nachos, we went to the pools, but the bus was late, and we got less time to swim in the naturally-heated, salt water pools. Once we got back we had tons of hot chocolate and home-made biscuits for supper.

‘DISNEY’S ALICE IN WONDERLAND’ PRODUCTION

Tuesday, 30 April 2013 11:06

DISNEYS ALICE IN WONDERLAND PRODUCTIONWhat an outstanding achievement to organise over 100 children to produce such a high quality show. Ms Leggett, our Music teacher, has excelled again, managing to use class Music lessons with the Year 4 to 6 classes for the bulk of the term, to teach the children their songs and movements. The principal roles worked hard during lunchtimes on their lines and actions and finally, with a week and a half before show time, all 100+ students were brought together for intensive sessions of practice.

Alice 1aWith only a few weeks to go the School production is in full swing. The main characters are being put through their paces and the Senior School is coming together to rehearse before moving the show up to the College Theatre. Mrs Leggett is now working at full speed to ensure the cast are ‘not late’ for the opening curtain.

Behind the scenes the Art department are ‘Painting the Roses Red’ and creating props for the show. As you can see there are three Alice’s’ in the production with Mrs Duffin stepping in as tall Alice.

Primary School Swimming Sports

Wednesday, 20 March 2013 09:15

Swim 1The time has arrived again for the Summer Swimming Sports at Massey Pools.  Both the Juniors and Seniors run their events alongside each other on the day in the small and large pools.

This year in the Senior Swimming Sports lots of children participated in both length and width events. The weather was really perfect for swimming and we had to re-apply lots of sunscreen.  During each event the people who were not swimming at the time, were cheering on their peers. It was really loud and it was fun watching everyone try their best.  When I jumped in for backstroke the water was as cold as a freezer! We got used to it quickly though. I was feeling really nervous when Mr Oakey said “GO!” As I swam towards the end I bumped my head on the side of the pool. I had finally made it! I had two more events to look forward to, with rests in-between.  Lots of parents were helping time our events but mine couldn’t make it as they were at work.  These swimming sports memories will be never forgotten and I have heard you don’t have to go to swimming sports in the College – but I will.

Our thanks to Mrs Hunter who organised the senior event. From the pictures you can see that everyone had a good time.
