ACG Strathallan Student Support

Student support

A key component of the educational progress of each student is the development of individual academic goals under the guidance of a Tutor teacher.

The tutor teacher is responsible for mentoring and encouraging individual students with a focus on improving student achievement. This is achieved through:

  • Encouragement
  • Pastoral care by supporting and guiding students through the 'early' days
  • Addressing minor issues with younger students with positive support
  • Assisting with the setting of educational goals
  • Assisting with developing action plans to achieve these goals
  • Providing guidance with study programs
  • Referring students to the appropriate people when necessary
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to parents and deans
  • Raising expectations
  • Building a level of trust
  • Using senior students as mentors for junior students within the tutor group
  • The development of a co-operative and supportive environment within the group
  • Close communication with students and parents using:
    • Phone calls
    • Emails

In addition to the Tutor teacher, teachers and students are supported by Year-level Deans and Senior Managers.
