Parent Testimonials

"Thank you for a wonderful tour of your school at your recent Open Day. We were given a comprehensive tour by two young pupils who were well informed on all aspects of school life and were able to answer questions.

We were both impressed by the high standard of equipment, displays and facilities available to your pupils. The small class numbers and the flexibility of courses for the senior students would be beneficial to learning. The friendliness of the staff we met and the good behaviour of all the pupils left a lasting memory of a happy and supportive school with high standards and goals." Grandmother and Retired Teacher.

"Thank you for your professional presentation at the time our child visited your school. She was very excited and interested with the school and ithe curriculum.  We were excited to hear that she felt her sense of belonging in your campus. Thank you, very much for welcoming our daughter to your school. We are looking forward to working collaboratively to enhance our daughter's needs and goal to success."  Ula and Herman

"A recent trip home to meet relatives, our son spoke with confidence and clarity which all who met him were impressed with. When asked about his school, he was proud to tell them about his academic and sporting achievements. He answered questions about his future career and was clear how his school has given him the skills to make his career choice a realistic reality. Both sets of family were impressed by his sense of humour as well as his impeccable behaviour when visiting different homes.

Our son was exposed to a range of educational experiences which were inspired directly from the curriculum at school.  The Tower of London came to life with his knowledge of castles from Year 7.  His visit to the Houses of Parliament had deep relevance as he compared this to his visit to the Beehive in Year 6.  He was inspired by the art all around London especially the extreme nature of the Damien Hurst exhibition and the incredible sculptures of Antony Gormely (both the hundred iron men and the angel of the north) and related this to his own artistic skills developed at school.  He watched a Shakespeare play and appreciated where Shakespeare lived in Stratford and where he performed his plays at the globe theatre, this was made possible due to having completed to Shakespeare plays in Year 7 and Year 8. He did have fun as well, but due to the connection with his school he also had a deeper appreciation of what travelling in a different country was like.

The highlight of our trip was for us to have a meal at the 3 Michelin Star restaurant by Heston Blumenthal. Our son was the only child in the restaurant but behaved with a level of maturity beyond his years. The menu was challenging and our son ate everything and formed an informed opinion on each course. He was polite to the staff and was able to eat a fourteen course meal over four hours without losing focus or becoming ‘silly’. This level of maturity is a value which I know has been encouraged throughout his time at school. He was an excellent representative of your school no matter where he went or who he spoke to.

While we know thatour son is growing up to be an interesting and well mannered young man, seeing him out of his normal environment and placing him in new and sometimes stressful situations, showed us how much he has benefited so far from his time at Sunderland and what an excellent start to his young life he has had.

Thank you, to you and all your staff for taking a somewhat disruptive unfocused young child and turning him in the young man with confidence to believe that anything is possible." Maria

"To my family, ACG Sunderland can be summed up in three words: Determination, Preparation and Perseverance. Since beginning at Sunderland, my son has learnt how powerful these three traits are in helping him reach his goals.  The programme that is undertaken in the junior college has taught him that you work to the best of your ability at all times and that hard work produces results to be proud of.

The teaching staff are committed to ensure that each student works to the best of their ability and that each lesson has a positive learning environment that makes students feel supported as they strive to improve.

The comprehensive range of subjects at Years 7-10 means that my son is able to make an informed decision about his senior subject choices and has a solid foundation from which to build future study.  The range of co-curricular activities has allowed him to develop worthwhile friendships and also learn the importance of balancing study with sport and music.  His involvement in the house system, sports, music and high quality academic situations has lead to the development of a compassionate young man that is very proud of belonging to the ACG Sunderland community."  Barbara

"My son came home a few weeks ago (after a Science class) very, very excited about school, and what he was learning, talking none stop about the whole experience.

I would like to thank you for inspiring my son and fostering his interest in Science. He has an inquiring mind and really enjoys learning about body systems and how they support the body to function. He has been considering a future career as a medical laboratory researcher, investigating further stem cell research and its application, or to explore cures for cancer."

"Our children have been at ACG Sunderland for nearly 2 years now and we have experienced both the primary and college facilities. They love the school and we have been very impressed both with the academic side and the other range of activities offered."

"The opportunities are great, expectations are exceptional – goals are met successfully. Standards are high and re-enforced throughout the school. Values such as respect and compassion are well regarded." ACG Sunderland offers a great all round education, catering for children that want to learn and aspire, by being taught good work ethics. From a parent’s perspective there is good support network with both the teacher’s and Principal’s being accessible to discuss any matters. We are listened to and responded to in a prompt and effective manner. Sunderland was a great decision. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to give their children a high quality education." – Rob & Jill.
