ACG

Science Programme

In Science we study various aspects of our physical, material and biological environment.

In Years 7-10 these are taught as separate topics in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with the emphasis being on practical work and application and related to everyday examples. These topics support the Cambridge Science programme.

In Year 11 we teach the I.G.C.S.E. Co-ordinated science course. Each subject is taught by a specialist in that field.

Year's 12 and 13 will follow the AS and A2 Cambridge programme. Pupils can opt for any of the three main Sciences; Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Assessment is continual via homework assignments, end of topic tests and school wide examinations.

As a Department we also participate in The NIWA Science Fair, ICAS competition and assessment and the CREST awards.

Each class is taught in a laboratory by scientists with the following specialisations; T. Barlow specialises in Biology and Geology, L. Stephens in Chemistry and Biology and J. McClean in Physics.
