Activities and events

ACG Sunderland has a wide range of cultural and sporting events for students.

The Performing Arts

We provide an outstanding performing arts curriculum, which brings out the best in students' musical and dramatic abilities and gives all students a chance to shine.

We have a College Choir, three rock bands and a Chamber Orchestra with more musical groups to come. We hold an annual College production with opportunities for all students to be involved.

A full and vibrant schedule of itinerant music lessons is available. Speech and Drama exams through Trinity Guildhall. Debating and speech competitions are provided for students as well.

We have the Sunderland choirs, groups and solo artists performing regularly at the Secondary School Assembly and other events.

School Sports

At Sunderland, we play regular inter-school fixtures with other schools from Auckland and from around the North Island of New Zealand.

We offer the following sports at Sunderland in the College:

Winter: Soccer, Cycling, Table Tennis, Touch Rugby, Cheerleading, Netball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Basketball.

Summer: Athletics, Cricket, Tennis and Rowing.

Sunderland focuses on a limited number of sports aiming to achieve success at local and regional levels. There are opportunities for students to compete in other sports, with all communications directed to our sports staff. Parent help is appreciated with transport and team management.

Our Director of Sport, Mr Keen has the responsibility of running and co-ordinating all of the Sunderland PE and Sport programmes.
