ACG International School Vietnam and the Australian International School merge
“Coming together to inspire excellence”
Two of HCMC’s best known international schools merged on 1 July 2013.
ACG Vietnam and AIS were both established in 2006, and are owned by the same companies, Academic Colleges Group of New Zealand, and Thuy Chau Co., Ltd of Vietnam.
Nigel Russell, the Chairman of both schools, says: “We are very pleased with the merger, which has brought together a community of over 1,100 students and 100 teachers, at three campuses in District 2.”
“Combining the two schools provides tremendous benefits to all our students. A broader range of subjects is now offered at senior levels; and academic and sporting competition have been enhanced both within the school and with other schools in HCMC and the region. The diversity of the student population has also increased, with over 35 nationalities represented.”
The merged school is called the Australian International School (AIS).
According to Clarence van der Wel, the Chief Operating Officer of Academic Colleges Group, the merged school has a strong focus on academic excellence and offers a world-class education. “The curriculum includes the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Cambridge Secondary 1 Programme with IGCSE in the Middle School, and the IB Diploma at Senior School”.
“An emphasis on specialist teachers who are highly qualified and trained to educate and help each student become a confident, articulate young person with a strong sense of self-belief and integrity is a feature of the merged school.”
