Entry Criteria
Enrolment staff and the Heads of School will review all applications. Other school personnel, such as learning and language support staff, may also be involved in the review process. Enrolment decisions are made by the Heads of School.
Before applications are approved students will be assessed for their willingness to extend themselves, their openness to new ideas and their ability to cope with the course of study proposed.
Students will also require a level of fluency and competency in English which allows them to understand classroom instruction easily and to express themselves confidently in both oral and written situations.
The School provides excellent English language teaching. Students whose first language is not English are very welcome. Such students will be assessed and provided with a suitable course to meet their English needs. This will be done through extra classes or by alternate English classes during the School programme.
Students with high level English skills are extended through teaching methods aimed to provide skill development specific to their learning needs.
Students will usually be advised of the result of their application within seven days of any interview. If a place is offered, acceptance must be confirmed in writing and the Enrolment Fee paid by the date specified.
For senior students, the academic record should show an ability to sustain a course of study at their chosen level. Students may select a course from subjects at different levels provided these are suited to their abilities and they meet any prerequisites for study.
- Students will be assessed on application for the most suitable Year Level
- Where students enter at a time other than the beginning of the School year, the student will be placed into the most appropriate level at that time
- Where a student demonstrates ability at a level higher than their current Year Level, that student may be promoted during the year
- Where a student’s English language ability means they would benefit from working at a lower Year Level, an appropriate placement may be made
- Senior School placement will depend on previous learning more than age
- The School will decide the placement of any student
