Primary School students will celebrate Book Week on Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th September. A range of fun and educational activities are being arranged at the School throughout the week to promote and encourage reading and ‘a love of books’.

Each year, ACG International School Vietnam spends a week celebrating books, authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers and co-teachers develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories to highlight the importance of reading.

The theme in 2012 is One World – Many Stories.

On Friday 7th September, all Kindergarten and Primary will come to School dressed as their favourite characters from books. A small assembly and parade will be held in the morning to mark the end of this special event.

As part of this celebration, Fahasa Books will hold at Book Fair in the School Reception Foyer from Wednesday 5th September to Friday 7th September with many English reading titles on sale to students and parents.

Congratulations to Hai Van DOAN and Alishia Healey, who have been awarded with an Academic Scholarship by ACG International School for the 2012-2013 Academic Year.

After receiving excellent news about her IGCSE results this Summer, in which Hai Van achieved A*, A and B, she applied and successfully received a Scholarship to undertake the 2-year IBDP course at ACG International School.

Alishia is also one of ACG’s top students in the Middle School. She recently received a number of Awards for Excellence in Science, Humanities, Art, Music and Physical Education. Alishia also received a Scholarship to study in Year 9.

When the students were informed that their application for the Scholarship was successful, both students cheered and commented happily: “We are so happy with the news. It feels great to be rewarded for your hard work!”

Mrs Emma Roomes, Director of Secondary Education, said: “I am very proud of Alishia and Hai Van for their excellence in academic achievement. I am certain they will continue to make us proud throughout their school career and their future lives beyond“.

The Academic Scholarship is awarded to academically gifted and talented students every year.

Summer School Success

Students of the Summer English School at ACG International School will be awarded with Certificates for their hard work and participation in the Summer Programme tomorrow, Friday 27th July 2012, in an assembly to mark the end of this year’s Summer School.

Over 100 students between the ages of 3 and 16 have joined our five-week Summer English School to develop and improve their English language skills. Through a range of fun and engaging activities such as drama, role-plays, class debates, classic word games like ‘hang-man’ and scrabble, badminton and basketball, students have gained significant confidence in speaking English. Their written, reading and listening skills have also had the chance to flourish through group and paired work, whether that be in the classroom, Library or ICT lab.

As we spoke to students two days before the summer programme ended, there were mixed emotions as students celebrated the progress they had made in the past five weeks, but had to part with friends with whom they had met and bonded on the course.
