This was the first year of GIN at ACG. Our members consisted of: Jade (Ja Yung) Moon, Betty (Na Eun) Kim, Jun Sik Moon, Phil Jae Chun and Eddy (Min Seong) Kang. Starting in January, we met weekly with Mr. Ang and Ms. Hunter to learn about GIN and to start our group. We also began preparing for the 2nd annual GIN Saigon Conference which was held at ISHCMC from March 8-10.

ACG International School Primary students raised over 8 million VND from a Halloween bake sale last Wednesday, 31 October 2012. Proceeds will go to the House of Hope, a home for children who are affected by AIDs, to help the children have access to better nutrition, medical care and better support facilities. Part of the raised funds will also be donated to the Helmet for Kids initiative, whose mission is to provide life-saving traffic safety knowledge and skills to the developing world with the goal of preventing road traffic crash fatalities and injuries. We are proud of ACG students for their compassion and community-mindedness.

Students at ACG International School Vietnam celebrated Halloween today dressed in wild, weird and wicked-witches costumes whilst supporting the Helmet for Kids charity. Pumpkin & spider web cookies and ginger “dead” men biscuits were also on sale as part of our aim to raise money for the House of Hope, a home for children affected by AIDS.

On Friday 25th May 2012, at 5pm, over 60 parents attended ACG International School’s seminar on the Key Advantages of an IB World School Education.
Guests were welcomed into the Auditorium with classical tunes from the piano, played by a Year 8 student, Hyun Ho Lee. The President of the Student Leadership Council, My Young Oh, welcomed guests with an inspirational speech about how the IB World School education has helped her developed global vision and appreciation. The Head of School, Mr John Burns, followed with an opening speech about the unique features of an international school and the learner characteristics that an IB World School fosters.
Mr Ryan Evans, the IB Creativity, Action, Service Co-ordinator, and Mr Glen Nicholson, Deputy Head of Primary, gave a thorough overview of the IB curriculum from a Secondary and Primary perspective, respectively. In their presentations, they outlined the key advantages of an IB education for young people, covering academic advantages such as University acceptances to individual advantages such as international-mindedness and independence.
ACG’s students, Elspeth Green (Year 6) and Andy Sundberg (Year 7) shared with the audience the journey they have taken and the skills they have acquired along the way, in an IB World School.
Parents of students at ACG, Ms Giau Pham and Mr Lee Harvey, highlighted how their children have flourished within an IB World School and shared their reasons for choosing an IB World School.
The event came to a close with a round of questions and answers, followed by a video of ACG International School.
Parents who did not get to ask the panel a question on the evening are welcome to submit queries about an IB education to acgvn@acgedu.com . ACG International School will endeavor to clarify any myths or provide specific advice around IB for discerning parents.
