Metro magazine has published its annual ‘Best Schools in Auckland’ demographic.
The results are based on NCEA, but still show some super performances from ACG Schools in a number of criteria – and one in particular. ACG Parnell College is the 2nd best school in Auckland based on University Entrance results – 93.7% of students gained university entrance. This is a weighted average of results from 2012 to 2016.
All four of our Auckland schools appear in the Top 25 list for University Entrance.
ACG Parnell College is 2nd; ACG Senior College is 7th with a UE rate of 89.9%; ACG Sunderland is 13th (81.4%) and ACG Strathallan is 15th with 80.5% gaining UE.
Two of our schools also feature in the Top 25 by NCEA (or equivalent) table. ACG Parnell College is 8th in Auckland with a 92% pass rate at level 3, while ACG Senior College is 16th, with 89% at level 3.
Metro’s league tables offer a disclaimer: “Academic results do not indicate the quality of a school and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing one.” We agree.
Our Director of Schools Clarence van der Wel said while strong results demonstrate the exceptional learning offered at our schools, the important thing is that students emerge from their years at school as well-rounded people with an appreciation of education.
“We want to develop and celebrate students who will make a great contribution to society – whatever their strengths,” he said.
