ACG Schools take the lead in Metro Best Schools list

It’s official. ACG Schools are amongst the best in Auckland!

Metro magazine has just published their list of Auckland’s best secondary schools, and once again all four Auckland ACG Schools have made it into the Top 20 for University Entrance.
ACG Parnell College earned 2nd place overall with an outstanding 96% of its year 13 students achieving University Entrance in 2017, while ACG Sunderland placed 9th equal with 91%, ACG Senior College came in 12th with 89%, and ACG Strathallan gained 14th place with an excellent 87% pass rate.

Metro’s data was collated from across the city’s 87 secondary schools, using a weighted average of results from 2012 – 2017. ACG Parnell College also achieved the highest University Entrance pass rates of all the co-ed schools in Auckland.

While ACG Parnell College ranked highest, all ACG Schools commanded exceptional results, highlighting the outstanding work carried out by teachers and students across our campuses.
University pass rates at ACG Sunderland have shot up by 5% in the past year from 86% to 91%, and ACG Strathallan has also shown a stellar improvement with University Entrance pass rates up from 78% to 87% in just two years.

These achievements reflect the hard work and unwavering dedication to excellence shared by staff and students across all ACG Schools, and CEO Schools Clarence van der Wel was delighted. “The combination of great teaching and highly motivated students has contributed to these excellent results,” he said.

Metro’s list further cements our reputation as a leading education provider and comes hot on the heels of our schools’ exceptional 2017 Cambridge results, which saw ACG Sunderland achieving an unbeatable 100% pass rate at A Level. At ACG Strathallan, an impressive 32% of all A-Level grades were A* or A, and four ACG Senior College students scored 100% in AS Statistics. Meanwhile, ACG Parnell College saw a 5% increase of both A* and A grades at A-level.

With strong academic results like this, it’s not surprising that ACG is a popular choice amongst secondary students and their families. However, Clarence was quick to point out that ACG schools also encapsulate many other strengths.

“Academic excellence is a focus in all our schools, but emphasis is also placed on the personal growth and well-being of our students through sports and performing arts to ensure we develop confident and well–rounded young people”.
