ACG Tauranga set to expand as construction starts on preschool

Earth works started this week for the build of our new preschool.

Scheduled to open in February 2018 and able to accommodate 70 students from the age of 18 months to 5 years, the preschool will provide a high-quality preschool option for our current and prospective Tauranga families.

The building will have separate, open plan classrooms for different age groups. There will be no barrier between indoor and outdoor spaces so children can easily move from the classroom to the playground, and the landscaped outdoor area will incorporate a flexible modular playground that can be moved and modified for variety.

It’s the next step towards creating a complete educational pathway from preschool to Year 13 at ACG Tauranga, said Principal Shawn Hutchinson.

“With the continued growth of Tauranga and The Lakes development in Pyes Pa, we see the preschool as the obvious next phase in our campus development. Our school will eventually accommodate 700 students from preschool to Year 13. Starting the preschool build this week is an exciting development.”

ACG Tauranga has contracted Form Building & Development Ltd for the design and build. The project follows the successful completion of the school’s state-of-the-art sports complex in July 2017.

Graduation is always an exciting time in a student’s life, and when this is combined with being acknowledged as a Top Trainee in Construction across all MPTT cohorts, NZMA students Carlos Tuhua and Toa Johansson couldn’t believe it!  It was a double win for NZMA, but also reflected the growing interest from female trades students.
