We’re building brighter futures at ACG Schools, which means that we’re always planning ahead to ensure we deliver educational excellence and outstanding options for our students and their families.

Anticipating another highly successful year, our CEO, Clarence van der Wel, shares some of the group’s insights and objectives for 2022.

“As the biggest private education provider in the country, ACG Schools has been enjoying extraordinary growth over the past several years,” he explains. “Although international student numbers have declined through Covid-19 restrictions, our enrolments within the domestic market have skyrocketed, leading to strong overall growth across our four Auckland and Tauranga based campuses. In addition, the ACG group now includes four Early Learning Schools with centres in Auckland and Queenstown, which provide exceptional opportunities for even our youngest learners.

“As a result, ACG Schools is currently educating more than 4,000 students (from Preschool to Year 13), and with the ongoing high levels of interest from prospective parents, we confidently expect this expansion will be sustained well into the future.

“We are extremely proud of our prolonged and successful growth. However, we are mindful of protecting those core elements that make our schools special, with students remaining at the heart of all that we do. Our holistic approach focuses not only on excellence in academic achievement but also in helping our students develop into well-rounded individuals with an array of sports, performing arts and extracurricular programmes to maximise their potential.”

Mr van der Wel believes the resilience and determination ACG students displayed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic will extend into 2022 as they move from strength to strength in their studies.

“Despite the challenges of school closures and restrictions over the past two years, our students have received some of the best International Baccalaureate and Cambridge curriculum results in ACG’s history. With the academic landscape looking a little more settled in 2022, we have no doubt that they will continue to thrive and flourish with the support and guidance of our expert teachers and education specialists.”

Additionally, this year will see further building projects come to fruition, with two unique and purpose-built facilities opening at our ACG campuses. ACG Tauranga has just revealed their new College block for senior students, with a modern library and an array of classrooms (including a science lab and dedicated art room). Plus, ACG Sunderland will soon open their new Reggio Emilia inspired Early Learning School, and the long waitlist of parents eager to join the preschool couldn’t be more pleased.

Furthermore, as a member of the Inspired Education Group – a leading international premium schools network across 20 countries on five continents – ACG Schools has access to unparalleled connections and proven best practices from around the world. Inspired’s philosophy of embracing individuality while preparing future leaders helps us to create global citizens in a remarkable learning environment.

“In 2022, Inspired schools will be offering a range of international summer programmes and global student exchange opportunities,” says Mr van der Wel. “These transformative experiences will be open to our senior cohorts once border restrictions are eased and will allow our students to attend schools in the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Kenya and South Africa.”

Inspired are also in a growth and development phase and will soon be adding to their group of 70 schools, with the launch of King’s College Bahamas in August 2022.

The year ahead looks very bright for ACG Schools. We look forward to sharing our vision and values with you at one of our upcoming Open Days.
