Our primary school students enjoy personalised attention from experienced teachers in modern facilities which include spacious classrooms and specialist teaching areas. The primary school curriculum focuses on developing students into independent and confident learners with researching and problem-solving skills, setting them up for a successful transition into their College years.
We encourage the establishment and development of skills in a range of subjects to promote confidence in learning and good study habits. From Year 1, your child will be given appropriate homework activities, to help them extend and practice their classroom learning. Your child’s progress is continually monitored and assessed. From Year 1 your child is coached to develop academic and social goals and to reflect on their progress. From Year 5 your child will sit end-of-year examinations, along with regular assessments throughout the year.
Students follow the Cambridge Primary programme which provides excellent preparation for them to move successfully from primary school to college, and ensures the academic, sporting and cultural strengths developed at an early age transition seamlessly to each new level. In Years 0-3 we develop students’ talents and abilities in a caring, safe and stimulating classroom environment. Enquiry-based programmes are offered to excite young minds, laying the foundation for successful future learning. In years 4-6 we help students become independent and confident learners with researching and problem-solving skills.
Our students enjoy personalised attention from experienced teachers in modern facilities and specialist teaching areas. The curriculum focuses on the total growth of the developing child and encompasses social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development. In Years 1–6, students learn about the environment around them, people near and far, and their responsibility to the community and the global world in which they live. Literacy, Numeracy and Science are the primary subject areas of focus. Students also learn about themselves and are encouraged to develop good habits for later study.
Academic and social skills are carefully nurtured and stretched by passionate, caring teachers. In new entrant and Year 1, classes are limited to a maximum of 20 students. This gives teachers time to help each child extend their learning in the crucial first years of school. There is a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, which are taught alongside specialist subjects like languages, music, art, physical education and science. It’s about providing a holistic approach to education, which develops a range of skills and a life-long passion for learning.
Our Primary Years Programme lays an excellent foundation for future development and learning, with a healthy balance of work and play. Inquiry-based learning keeps students challenged and stimulated, in a supportive and productive environment. Personalised care and attention, and the cultivation of teamwork between teachers and students, instils students with a positive work ethic and thirst for knowledge.
The Primary School provides a dynamic learning environment which is full of energy, enthusiasm, and creativity. The experience, expertise and dedication of our highly-qualified staff create a positive atmosphere where students thrive and can achieve their very best as independent learners.
