Primary school (Years 1 – 6)

Our primary school students enjoy personalised attention from experienced teachers in modern facilities which include spacious classrooms and specialist teaching areas. The primary school curriculum focuses on developing students into independent and confident learners with researching and problem-solving skills, setting them up for a successful transition into their College years.

We encourage the establishment and development of skills in a range of subjects to promote confidence in learning and good study habits. From Year 1, your child will be given appropriate homework activities, to help them extend and practice their classroom learning. Your child’s progress is continually monitored and assessed. From Year 1 your child is coached to develop academic and social goals and to reflect on their progress. From Year 5 your child will sit end-of-year examinations, along with regular assessments throughout the year.

The curriculum focuses on the total growth of the developing child and encompasses social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development. In Years 1–6, students learn about the environment around them, people near and far, and their responsibility to the community and the global world in which they live. Literacy, Numeracy and Science are the primary subject areas of focus. Students also learn about themselves and are encouraged to develop good habits for later study.

Academic and social skills are carefully nurtured and stretched by passionate, caring teachers. In new entrant and Year 1, classes are limited to a maximum of 20 students. This gives teachers time to help each child extend their learning in the crucial first years of school. There is a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, which are taught alongside specialist subjects like languages, music, art, physical education and science. It’s about providing a holistic approach to education, which develops a range of skills and a life-long passion for learning.
